Sebastia

Sebastia, also known as Sivas, is a city in central Turkey and the seat of Sivas Province. It is the second largest province in Turkey by territory, and was one of the six Armenian vilayets. The vilayet was bordered by Erzurum to the east, Kharberd to the south-east and Trebizond to the north.  This province is noted for its thermal springs and for the Silk Road which runs through the city. Prominent Sebastia Armenians include the writer Daniel Varoujan, Mkhitar of Sebastia and the painter Haroutiun Galentz.
